RESPOSIBLE WATER MANAGEMENT

Our commitment to the environment has prompted the company to conduct a first pilot project to estimate its Corporate Water Footprint. This tool calculates the total volume of water used by the company’s production processes and helps formulate better strategies to mitigate its environmental impact. We are the first winery in the world to estimate its water footprint with the joint support of the Water Footprint Network and Fundación Chile.

Another key agricultural measure is drip irrigation technology. Since 1990 the company has permanently searched for a more efficient use of water in its vineyards and began a policy of extensive use of drip irrigation. With this technology plants receive the exact amount of water required and leaching and water loss are avoided, adding up to significant water savings.

* Water Footprint Network defines the water footprint as: "An indicator of water use that includes both direct and indirect water use of a consumer or producer. The water footprint of an individual, community or business is defined as the total volume of freshwater that is used to produce the goods and services consumed by the individual or community or produced by the business".
