Terrunyo Riesling 2011 chosen “Best Other White” in Annual Wines of Chile Awards 2012
Just weeks after its initial release, Terrunyo Riesling 2011 by winemaker Ignacio Recabarren was named “Best Other White” in the 9th Annual Wines of Chile Awards ceremony held on January 12.
Terrunyo Riesling 2011, the latest variety in the Terrunyo line, was released to market just a few weeks ago and comes from the Los Boldos Vineyard in the coldest part of the Casablanca Valley, just 15 km (9 mi) from the Pacific Ocean.
Block 6, where the grapes for this Riesling grow, is one of the coolest sectors at Los Boldos. The vines are planted in the upper section of the vineyard, and the greater coastal exposure along with breezes and shade that moderate the temperatures allow the grapes to ripen more slowly.
This award reflects the importance of this project for the company and the challenge of positioning Chile as a producer of high quality vines, as well as a constant and passionate search for terroirs that faithfully express the character of each variety.
