Megumi Ichaikawa visited Pirque to taste cold climate wines for a new report on Chile which will be featured in a leading Japanese newspaper, Shuhán news.
Megumi Ichakawa, journalist and wine editor for the leading Japanese newspaper for wine, sake and spirits, visited Chile for the second year in a row for a report on cold climate wines.
The journalist reached Concha y Toro’s cellar in Pirque on June 6. She was met by Pablo Pressac, wine ambassador of Concha y Toro’s vineyard in Asia, who accompanied her throughout the visit.
According to the needs of her report, tastings began with a comparative sample of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the Marques de Casa Concha line. The tasting was lead by winemaker Marcelo Papa, who explained the main characteristics of these wines from the Limarí and Biobío valleys.
Pablo Pressac was responsible for introducing the coastal wines, including 2016 Amelia, 2016 Terrunyo Sauvignon Blanc, and Gran Reserva Serie Riberas Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay 2016.
Lastly, winemaker Enrique Tirado introduced the 2014 Don Melchor vintage.
