For the third consecutive year, Viña Concha y Toro was invited to participate in the leading global sustainability index, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), different versions of which were created in 1999 — a global index, and rankings by country, category and industry — to monitor the economic, environmental and social performance of leading companies in sustainability around the world.
The Chilean version of the index was developed in 2015 by the Santiago Stock Exchange and S&P Dow Jones Indices, in which Viña Concha y Toro has been evaluated positively. In 2016, the company stood out for being the only wine company in the world to form part of the index, and for improving its scores in all areas of evaluation, progressing significantly within the “Beverages” category and positioning itself in the top third of the ranking.
In the Economic dimension it obtained 60 points, with 51 points being the average in the category. In the Social dimension, the company received 66 points, 18 points higher than the average for the “Beverages” category. Finally, in the Environmental dimension, it attained 75 points, 21 points higher than the category average. It should be noted that the company achieved 100 points in “Water Management”, the maximum score.
The DJSI MILA (Latin American Integrated Market) index was recently created, with the participation of 41 Chilean companies including Viña Concha y Toro.
This evaluation system is based on DJSI methodology, and monitors the performance of companies with the highest sustainability scores in the RobecoSAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) from the Pacific Alliance bloc, which includes Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.
